gouda1.jpgGuda Koster was asked by the city of Gouda to do a project. The subject was supposed to be ‘direct communication’, bearing in mind the excellent relations between the numerous different religious communities and networks in the community of Gouda.
The project was titled TO SEE IS TO BELIEVE and it consisted of a number of activities.
-9 Artists exhibited new spiritual images and modern icons on streets and            walls, throughout the city. There was a large picture of one of the works
In the daily local newspaper each day; the newspaper functioned as the ‘catalogue’ of the exhibition
-For one week there was a ‘speakers corner’ in the main square of Gouda.
Representatives of the different religious communities held sermons about the central theme: ’ to see is to believe’.
- A public debate. Why Modern Art and religion don’t mix.
-A Choir day. Numerous choirs; religious, secular, popular, classical, political, large and small performed on the same occasion.  
-A combined walking- and puzzling exercise, which followed a route along numerous places of religious importance in Gouda.
-The local cinema played la Voie lactée (the Milky Way ), a merry heretical masterpiece about religious doubt by Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel.
