Shopping mall Vanderveen in Assen offers a divers and overwhelming
selection of products: flowers, clothing, tours, toys and furniture. On
the second floor the unique exhibition space of CBK-Drenthe is located.
Guda Koster has transformed it into a clothing shop with four different
showrooms. In each of these showrooms one of her works is exhibited in
a special and specific surrounding. Each of these works consists of a
unique series of clothing. Kosters installation is intriguing and
surprising in the surrounding of the shopping mall. The works are not
immediately recognizable as art, but on the other hand, her message is
simple and clear.
In the work ‘Once there was....,’ for instance, between sweet romantic
curtains five wedding dresses are shown. These dresses, however, have
aprons in front with texts like: ‘you are not the one’ or ‘Sorry, I’ve
got someone else.
The most beautiful day of your life turns into a disaster.
